With the Cowboys getting their projected starting offensive line back, coach Mike McCarthy praises backup offensive lineman Chuma Edoga.

It’s all part of the Cowboys’ offseason moves working when it came to depth.“I mean extremely valuable,” coach Mike McCarthy said Thursday. “He’s come in and he’s played quality, quality reps and I just commend him because he’s done it on very limited reps up in training camp.
In training camp, Edoga suffered a knee injury slowing down his progress. And just as the Cowboys were holding their first practice on Sept. 4, the week of their opening game,Edoga started at left guard for two weeks. During those two weeks, he suffered an elbow injury. Then, the day before the Cowboys’ Week 3 game at Arizona, Tyron Smith suffered a knee injury.
So with Tyler Smith cleared to return at left guard, Edoga just slid over to tackle to replace Tyron Smith. “You always want to play,” he said. “It was kinda crazy. I just came off injury and came right back and the first day yeah Tyler went down. The coaches tell me, ‘You got to be at left guard.’ It was a quick turnaround I was glad to get in and help my teammates.”. This is my 13th year covering the Dallas Cowboys.
