THE National Capital Region and seven other areas in Luzon posted increases in their Covid-19 positivity rates beyond 20 percent, independent research firm OCTA Research said. READ HERE:
OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David, in his update posted last Sunday, May 7, said the seven-day Covid-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila increased from 17.2 percent on April 29 to 22.7 percent on May 6.Higher numbers were also tallied in the provinces of Batangas , Bulacan , Camarines Sur , Cavite , Isabela , Laguna , and Rizal .
These rates are considered 'high' as they exceed the five percent threshold laid down by the World Health Organization.The spread of the Covid-19 Omicron subvariant XBB.1.16 may have contributed to the increase in infections and daily average cases to 1,400 and 1,600, experts said.Last week, WHO announced it no longer considered Covid-19 a global health emergency.President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
