IPOH: A review of the face mask mandate will be carried out if Covid-19 cases in Perak call for one, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

He said such an assessment would be carried out by the state government together with the state National Security Council and Health Department.“At the moment, we believe it is still unnecessary to make wearing masks mandatory.

“However, depending on the Covid-19 reports issued by the state Health director, an assessment will be done if needed,” he told reporters after attending a ground-breaking ceremony at Lahat on Tuesday .On Jan 4, the Melaka government said wearing face masks would be made mandatory if Covid-19 cases recorded an upward trend.

On Jan 12, the Selangor government said it would also consider tightening its Covid-19 prevention measures if cases increased.
