IPOH: The process of electing new village heads and local councillors has started, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
The Perak Mentri Besar said a meeting will be held among the ruling parties to nominate their suitable candidates for local government councillors.
“Together with the state Local Government Committee chairman Sandrea Ng, we will be discussing with the parties to select the candidates for all 15 local governments in the state. “Meanwhile for the village heads, we are currently awaiting the new format by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry before we can proceed with the next step,” he told reporters after attending a ground-breaking ceremony in Lahat here on Tuesday .
Saarani added that the state also had issued a circular terminating the services of previous village heads and local government councillors dated Dec 31, 2022.
