Whether or not to ease lockdown restrictions is no easy decision. Cases are stable, with under 10,000 new infections recorded over the past seven days but our pace of vaccinations is not climbing as quickly as hoped. Western Cape Premier Alan Winde wants the national state of disaster to be scrapped and suggests restrictions be considered per province. We discuss this with Professor Shabir Madhi, Director of the Vaccines and Infectious Diseases Analytical Research Unit at Wits.
