This takes South Africa’s Covid-19 death toll to 84 152, while the new infections take confirmed infections since last March to over 2.8 million in the country.

NICD acting director Professor Adrian Puren said the Gauteng and Limpopo provinces were officially out of the third wave while all provinces were seeing a decline in new cases.
“Although the total number of cases today is higher than yesterday and higher than the average number of new cases per day over the previous seven days, the number of new cases and positivity rate have decreased nationally compared to last week,” he said.
