Acting Gauteng Health MEC Jacob Mamabolo says there are ongoing meetings in the health sector to resolve the PPE saga. CourtesyJOHANNESBURG - The decrease in new COVID-19 infections in Gauteng means hospitals are now able to cope with increasing alcohol-related trauma cases.
But, Acting Gauteng Health MEC Jacob Mamabolo says these beds will need to be used for COVID-19 cases if there is a surge."The decrease in the number of admissions, freeing beds in the hospitals meant for normal activity, it means those beds are now available to accommodate other patients that would need to be admitted, including those that go into trauma."He says there will be weekly meetings on all Personal Protective Equipment procurements for the remainder of the pandemic.
