The pub is less than 40 minutes away from Liverpool
If you fancy taking a trip to a different area at the weekend, the Ferry Tavern is less than 40 minutes away from Liverpool by car, in Penketh, Warrington. But it's the pub's location that really makes it stand out.
Dating back to 1762, the historic pub had welcomed generations of customers for over 250 years as one of the oldest pubs in the area. Today, it's run by Jade and Andy Mulholland - the 22nd licensees of The Ferry Tavern - who live on site with their sons Charlie and Jack. "I was 10 when I moved here and my brother would have been 16, they just wanted to have a slower pace of life really. The pub had been derelict for two and a half years and then the brewery at the time, John Smith, they approached my mum and dad and said we think this is a pub that would suit you and they started from scratch.
