SHAH ALAM: Police are advising the public not to participate in a planned rally on Friday (May 19) near the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah mosque here.
Shah Alam deputy OCPD Supt Ramsay Embol said in a statement that the demonstration – said to be in protest of the Federal Government withdrawing its appeal against the High Court decision allowing the use of the word"Allah" by non-Muslims – was being viewed seriously by the police.
"We advise the organisers not to continue with the demonstration, especially since it is planned at a place of worship, which is an offence under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012. "It is also advised that all, especially those within the Shah Alam area, do not participate public harmony and peace," he said.
