Ross Muir failed to investigate an incident in the town and then lied to colleagues to cover his tracks.
A policeman who failed to investigate a Paisley crime and then lied to colleagues to cover his tracks hasn’t been punished by the court on the basis he may lose his job.
Muir was, however, admonished by Sheriff Gilroy who stated: “The conviction here is the punishment for you because this will likely affect your present and future employment, and there will likely be misconduct proceedings now to follow.” The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages.
Furthermore, Muir failed to arrest the male alleged to have committed the assault and didn’t bother asking a colleague to arrest him. Mr McMurtie told the court: “This was a truly exceptional unique event. Mr Muir has been in the police service for 15 years and had 12 years of service at the time of this incident.”
