TEXARKANA, Ark. - As United Way of Texarkana works to reach its campaign fundraising goal, the non-profit receives some help from Cooper Tire in the form of a $25,000 donation.
The United Way of Texarkana is celebrating its 100th year of taking care of needs in the community. Agency leaders say every dollar counts. The budgets for many of those non-profits depend on what the United Way can do for them. The goal of this year's campaign is to raise $900,000.
Executive Director Mark Bledsoe says they would not be able to help local agencies without the support of Cooper Tire. The tire company is the No. 1 supporter of United Way in the region. "There's a lot of programs that couldn't make it without the support. We hit on three key areas, health, education and financial stability. The support from Cooper Tire and the United Steelworkers is huge," said Bledsoe.
The agency has several fundraisers planned for the rest of the year, including the Uncork your Support fundraiser and the Farmer's Bank and Trust Live United Bowl.
