Amari Cooper led the Browns receivers with two huge catches -- including the longest passing play for Cleveland this season.
That’s actually how the Browns receiver thinks of himself most times too. It’s what he fixates on, what his teammates and coaches rave about in terms of his dedication to his craft. It’s largely why Cooper is a four-time Pro Bowler and has had six 1,000-yard seasons in his nine-year career.
It came on a contested 26-yard grab in the third quarter where he leaped over 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward near the right sideline and managed to get his feet down inbounds one at a time. And it’s the kind of play that allows Cooper to make an important distinction about his abilities. Cooper high-pointed the ball, and with his back facing the sideline got his right foot down and then his left before momentum carried him out of bounds.
The play kept the drive alive and ended with a 42-yard field goal by Dustin Hopkins to tie the game at 10 all.
