Latest Nottingham Forest news as Steve Cooper's Reds prepare to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park

Boss Steve Cooper says he is enjoying working with Andrey Santos as the Chelsea loanee continues to wait for his Nottingham Forest Premier League debut.

However, Cooper has been happy with the midfielder’s progress and says circumstances, as well as the process of integrating 13 new signings, have played a part in the 19-year-old having to be patient. The Welshman had been considering bringing Santos off the bench in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Brentford until Moussa Niakhate’s red card changed the game.

“There’s a lot of new players here and we’re really trying to get the balance right in integrating all the players at the right time, while trying to perform as best we can in every single game to get the results we want. That’s a real process. “For example, Brentford could have been a really good game for him to come off the bench. But we went down to 10 men and he wasn’t feeling too well on the sidelines. That went against him, because he was definitely in our thinking for a change. It didn’t work out that way, because of how he was feeling and the red card - so there’s been a little bit of bad luck as well.
