More than half of US contraceptive users preferred alternative sources over traditional in-person care.

Individuals using contraceptive pills, patches, and rings must frequently interact with the healthcare system for continued use. More than half of US contraceptive users prefer alternative sources over traditional in-person care. Only 35.6% of respondents selected in-person care as their most preferred source.Researchers conducted a cross-sectional nationally representative survey in the United States in 2022 through NORC's AmeriSpeak panel.

Primary outcomes measured were the use of any preferred source and the most preferred source when obtaining contraception. Only 49.7% of respondents obtained their method from a preferred source, while 39.8% received it from their most preferred source.
