The Commission on Elections on Tuesday clarified that a petition challenging Ferdinand"Bongbong" Marcos' candidacy — the one filed by his namesake and former rival — has not yet been dismissed., noting that Tiburcio Marcos' petition to cancel the former senator's certificate of candidacy for president is still pending before the Second Division.

"[A]n error was made saying that it was already disposed of because it is with the Division right now," Jimenez told reporters."Hopefully we can have more information regarding this particular case very soon." The complaint of Tiburcio — who has been declared a nuisance candidate — claims Bongbong is not the real son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.Last week, the Comelec Second Division junked for lack of merit a petition of civic leaders, which also sought to cancel Marcos' COC.CNN Philippines' Melissa Lopez contributed to this report.
