.COMELEC may name new gun ban panel chair on Wednesday — Garcia
The Commission on Elections may announce on Wednesday’s en banc session the replacement of Commissioner Socorro Inting as chairperson of the Committee on the Ban on Firearms and Security Concerns after she stepped down from her post on Tuesday, Commissioner George Garcia said.
“Mamaya po pag-uusapan namin ‘yan at maaring mamaya rin po ay ating maa-announce kung sino ang hahalinhin kay Commissioner Inting o baka naman sakaling makumbinsi pa si Commissioner Inting din na huwag nang bitawan ang pagiging chairman ng committee,” he said.following the en banc’s decision to give Comelec Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan the authority to unilaterally grant gun exemptions and place areas under the poll body’s control in “meritorious and urgent cases.
