The Trojans starred at a 29-0 deficit at the half. In the third quarter, the Trojans got things rolling with two scores, one being a five-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Zymere Weaver to running back Chase Young that cut the deficit to 29-14 going into the fourth quarter.Mount St. Joseph responded with 4:12 left to play to make it a three-score game again, but the Trojans kept fighting back.
Junior Anwar Witherspoon returned the pursuing kickoff for a touchdown to cut the deficit to 36-20. On the Trojans’ next possession, Weaver hooked up with junior wide-out Josiah Zayas for his second touchdown pass of the game to make it a 10-point game.The comeback stalled there for the Trojans, who will host Lincoln in their home opener on Friday night.
