A surge of warm air arrives ahead of a strong cold front.
We are seeing some showers across Central Ohio this evening, however the main event will move through overnight. A strong cold front will pass over the area starting at about 10pm that will bring more widespread rain and a strong thunderstorm or two.
Wind will also pick up as we head through the evening. The National Weather Service has issued a WIND ADVISORY from 8pm tonight to 6pm tomorrow for gusts over 50mph.We will also see a dramatic temperature drop. Temperatures will hold in the 60s ahead of the front, then drop over 30 by 6am tomorrow. So, while the high temperature is technically about 60, you will wake up to temperatures in the 30s and it will fall into the 20s by late morning. A few isolated snow showers are possible through the day as well. Be careful on roadways as icy spots will be developing through the morning.It is going to stay cold through the week. Another round of wintry precipitation arrives Wednesday evening and will continue into the morning of New Year’s Day. Be prepared to deal with snowy roadways heading home from celebrations. We have been watching another system for the weekend, but it looks like it may hold off until Sunday night or even Monday. Models are still not in agreement on timing.
