The historic rivalry between Linden-McKinley and East High School, two of the best in the Columbus City School District, is more than just a game. Community lea
ders are using the event to spread a message of unity and positivity.
Casey Mock, Linden-McKinley High School's head football coach, emphasized the importance of the game within the community. "We've expressed that to the guys this week, you know, the importance of it within the community so they know it. I hope they can feel it," he said. Ta' John Royster, East's running back, highlighted the need for teamwork. "All of us to come together as a team and just work together. When we work together, nobody can beat you," he said.
Ralph Carter, founder of "We Are Linden," said, "Unity. We are Columbus. Everybody has a 'we are.' That's our message across the board for the entire city."
