Kaepernick’s appearance at the second game of the Las Vegas Aces vs. New York Liberty series was captured on the Barclay’s Center LED screen. Audience members cheered as he smiled and waved to the camera.Kaepernick became deeply involved in social issues following his controversial decision to kneel during a performance of the Star-Spangled Banner while playing with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016.
Kaepernick has founded several groups dedicated to elevating racial minorities since leaving the league, including Know Your Rights Camp, Ra Vision Media, and Kaepernick Publishing. Among his most recent projects was the creation of children’s book “We Are Free, You & Me,” which “invites even the youngest readers to embrace the Know Your Rights Camp ideals.”
