Daniel LaRusso actor Ralph Macchio gives an encouraging update on the filming start window for Cobra Kai season 6, the show's final season.
Ralph Macchio reveals the filming start window for Cobra Kai season 6. Originally launched on the now-defunct YouTube Red in 2018, Macchio’s return as The Karate Kid’s Daniel LaRusso went from charming curiosity to sensation when it made the leap to Netflix in 2021. One of the rare Netflix shows to survive beyond season 3, Cobra Kai is now getting set to unleash season 6, which is expected to be the final go-around for the nostalgic action-comedy series.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY When Cobra Kai season 6 will finally hit Netflix is something that has not yet been revealed, but Macchio himself did just offer an encouraging update on the show’s progress. Appearing at the Atlanta Comic Convention recently, the Daniel LaRusso actor was asked for a Cobra Kai status update, and indicated that work is moving ahead while giving an idea of when filming may start on the final season.
They're writing the scripts now, and we're supposed to start in Atlanta in probably this spring. I think May is the pencil plan to get started. I can't wait. Why Cobra Kai Has To End With Season 6 Though Netflix is notorious for canceling series prematurely, in the case of Cobra Kai, the streamer had no plans to end the show until its creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg decided that season 6 would be the last.
The big issue with Cobra Kai of course is that its young cast has begun aging out of their characters in a major way. At this point, it stretches credulity to believe that stars like Peyton List, Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan and Mary Mouser are still high school age. It’s also somewhat unbelievable that these young adults are still completely obsessed with karate, as if they were grade schoolers who have nothing else going on in their lives.
Stretching credulity is obviously something Cobra Kai has done from the beginning, but as nimbly as the show has tip-toed around some of its more outlandish elements, there’s still a danger of the whole flimsy structure collapsing. The show’s creators certainly seem to agree that it’s better to get out while Cobra Kai still has a grip on things, rather than stick with it through the inevitable cast exits and creative decline.
