Creator Jon Hurwitz says Cobra Kai coming to an end with season 6 was not Netflix's decision, but rather that of the Karate Kid sequel's showrunners.
Cobra Kai creator Jon Hurwitz says the showrunners chose to end the Karate Kid revival series with season 6, not Netflix. Cobra Kai has breathed new life into the Karate Kid franchise, reviving it via a legacy sequel series that brought back original stars Ralph Macchio and Willaim Zabka as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. The series has seen the two face off with feuding karate dojos, as well as focusing on the students, widening the character roster.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In response to a fan question about Cobra Kai's final season on Twitter, Hurwitz responded, clarifying that it was the creators who decided to end the show with season 6, not Netflix. While he is grateful for the show's success, Hurwitz also wanted to end it the right way, not allowing it to diminish in quality by overstaying its welcome. Still, with Cobra Kai ending, Hurwitz promises more from the Karate Kid universe they established even after the Netflix show concludes. What To Expect From Cobra Kai Season 6 Cobra Kai has various running plot lines that season 6 will likely spend some time wrapping up.
Characters like Kreese are still likely eyeing revenge against Daniel, Johnny, and Terry Silver, which could fuel much of the conflict heading into Cobra Kai season 6. However, Robby has a running story with Kenny, a young student he led astray, that needs closure and may play into the Sekai Taikai, the tournament they will be prepping for. It's also possible that Chozen may have a romance story with Kumiko, which was set up throughout season 5.
One of the biggest questions going into Cobra Kai season 6 revolves around Tory's parents, particularly her mother. Theories speculate that Hilary Swank's Julie Pierce from the fourth film, The Next Karate Kid, may be Tory's mom, as she is one of the last remaining legacy characters. Given that the show has continually brought back characters from the movies, it's not outside the realm of possibility, but nothing has been confirmed.
