The Vikings suffered a 10-point loss to the Norse, giving them their first loss since Dec. 5.
Updated: Feb. 05, 2025, 10:37 p.m.Joshua Gunter, cleveland.comCLEVELAND, Ohio – For the first time since Dec. 5, Cleveland State knows what it’s like to lose.
The Vikings won the first meeting this season in mid-January by 18 points, controlling the pace from start to finish and combatting the Norse’s matchup zone, which has an unique wackiness to it. Then came North Kentucky’s Josh Dilling, who scored their first six points off a 3-pointer and three made free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt. Dillings only had six points in the last meeting and matched that through Wednesday’s first three minutes, and finished with 14.
Wells was right there and showed the Vikings what they missed out on last month, with seven of his 13 points and five of his seven boards coming in the first half.Gradually but surely, because they didn’t win 13 in a row on accident. The Norse occasionally operated their press defense, and it effected the Vikings in forcing them to speed up a little bit, which is not really their style of play.
Robinson played like he’d been looking forward to the rematch, and was earning his points off hook shots and iso situations in the post, finishing with 12 points and eight boards.
