The Vikings got an 18-point win over the Norse for their ninth straight win this season.
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Seconds after Cleveland State’s Tahj Staveskie earned his 20th point off a deep trey, and extended the Vikings’ lead to 11, Northern Kentucky’s Josh Dilling threw the ball away and recorded his fourth turnover.Twelve minutes remained in the game, but the fact they had a double-digit lead versus a Norse’ squad, when their last five meetings ended in one-possession scores, was impressive.
Sure, putting the ball in the hoop helps moves you closer to winning. But for these two squads, the main focus is keeping the other from scoring. This opened opportunity for other Vikings to help with the scoring output, though it wasn’t any different for coach Robinson regarding who scores. The redshirt sophomore transfer from Canisius has fit in smoothly with the Vikings, and notes the position change in playing shooting guard, compared to usually playing point guard in the past.
Whether it was helping break the Norse press and finishing with a layup, or cleaning up Chase Robinson’s missed layup in the second half.
