A $19.5 million grant will allow Cleveland Metroparks and the City of Cleveland to begin constructing two major improvements to the pedestrian and bike trail network on Cleveland’s east side.

- Chris Alvarado, executive director of Slavic Village Development, points out a half mile of trail built as part of the emerging Slavic Village Downtown Connector Trail in 2018-19 by the Ohio Department of Transportation as part of a larger project to revamp I-77 and the Broadway Avenue Bridge. Steven Litt, Cleveland .comWASHINGTON, D. C. - The U.S. Department of Transportation is awarding a $19.

The second phase of the Slavic Village Downtown Connector will improve Broadway Avenue and create about 1.7 miles of new trail that links downtown to the Slavic Village neighborhood, Cleveland Metroparks’ Washington Reservation, and the Towpath Trail, Brown’s office said. “We passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to invest in our communities, and update and repair the roads, trails, and transit Ohioans use every day,” said a statement from Brown. “This investment is a continuation of our work and will make our roads and trails safer and improve our neighborhoods into the future.”
