OBR Publisher Barry McBride has, for reasons he can’t explain, decided to wake up early every day and write about the Cleveland Browns. This is demented, yet he keeps doing it. Couple that with being a Browns fan, and you have the definition of insanity. It’s the OBR Daily Newswire for March 29, 2026.

I’m doing - I get up early every day to write about the Cleveland Browns and then attempt to operate a website on that same subject matter - it’s just that I don’t knowSome of these things are not issues.

For example, waking up early every morning. I’ve got that knocked. Sitting down and reviewing the previous day’s news, that’s pretty easy, too.can be a problem. Try as I might, that blank space doesn’t fill itself. I mean, it could, using AI, but everything AI generates is dull, lifeless, and, when it tries to be funny, unbearably corny. All this, especially the lame jokes, is a pretty good approximation of what I’ll eventually write, but it just feels “off”. So, that’s not an answer. So, I read the news from the day before, and see if that sparks some stupid opinion, or if I can recognize the recurring patterns that come from following a perennial losing franchise. We’ve got some of those today. For example, we’ve got people trying to talk themselves into believing that our quarterback situation is anything other than a disaster. Or we’ve got the team trying to deny any intention of trading a player, even though they just finished adapting his contract so he’s more tradable. Then there’s the draft chatter, which is always fun, but seems to wind up some variation of trading down and drafting Danny Shelton each year. Except last year, which was a big enough success to give me hope that Andrew Berry has finally figured it out.and clickbaiters, both of whom are anxious to be relevant by prattling on about it. Cue the “Top Five Destinations for Myles Garrett” articles. It’s clearly a sign of great interest in the possibility, at least, where I’d say the majority of the posts just wish that the Browns wouldn’t trade Hall of Famers away. Elsewhere, one of the advantages of following a team that has won less than a third of its games since its 1999 return is that you can always write about where fired ex-front office people are turning up. On that front, the Los Angeles Ramsas a player personnel consultant. Savage, of course, was the architect of the late ‘oughts Braylon Edwards–era teams and has remained active in NFL circles. A familiar name moving to a team that, let’s be honest, the Browns would love to emulate in terms of roster-building savvy. Welp, that’s mostly it for the last 24 hours. The NFL Rich Owners Meeting is about to commence, where the media will pester folks relentlessly about Myles Garrett because that’s the subject of the moment, even though the Browns have said over and over that they don’t intend to trade him, and just sort of assume we’ll square the circle regarding their recent contractual changes. In reading over today’s nonsense, I realize that I sound kind of old and cynical. I’m not. In fact, I’m as jazzed as ever about being able to spend my days talking Browns and sports with like-minded folks. The news cycles may rhyme with those of 2003, 2011, 2015, and whatever, but at least we have each other to make the days go by better. There’s some inspiration for you, fellow aging baby boomers, to get off the couch and go do something utterly pointless for the sheer sake of doing it. At my advanced age, I’m having as much fun as ever navigating this crazy world and trying to build something special. I hope that if you’re my age and reading this, you continue to find things that inspire you. Something about growing older is that you start to appreciate the possibilities in life a bit more, especially if you’ve had any close calls with mortality. I’m not saying everyone should plummet of a cliff face, but there are a number of safer equivalents still out there. When not refusing to leap off cliffs, Barry McBride is the Publisher and Founder of the OBR and bloviates this nonsense every morning.
