City of Houston lifts its boil water notice Tuesday morning.

Update 6:53 a.m. 11-29-22:

An email sent by Alejandra Diaz said that workers from CenterPoint accessed the facilities in the area of the power plant and found the power issues were caused by the city’s equipment and not CenterPoint Energy’s system. “CenterPoint Energy is aware of the power issues that affected the city’s facilities at its East Water Purification Plant. We remain in contact with the city on any potential assistance it may need as it works to address its internal power issues.

“When you have two transformers that failed and you can’t connect to the grid where the power is running to your generators, then you have a very unique and unfortunate situation,” said Turner. The boil water notice was not put into effect by the city until 6:44 p.m.— a lapse of time which drew some criticism. Turner, who said the boil water notice was made as a precautionary measure, said the city has 24 hours to give notice following an actual outage.

Of the 21 sites, the biggest groupings of pressure droppings were on the northwest side inside of the 610 loop and the southwest side of the city, according to Erin Jones, public information officer at Houston Public Works. Jones said the boil water notice is expected to be lifted sometime Tuesday morning, as the samples of the water collected will be submitted to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality by that time.
