Cpl. David M. Hathcock, who served the Montgomery Police Department for more than 20 years, died Sunday.

) - Police held a procession Tuesday for Cpl. David M. Hathcock , an officer who served the Montgomery Police Department for more than 20 years. He died Sunday.The procession transported his body from Montgomery to Millbrook.

Along the route, law enforcement from several agencies showed their respect, including troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and officers from the Millbrook Police Department. The law enforcement community is honoring Montgomery Police Cpl. David Hathcock, who passed away this weekend. Montgomery Police Chief Jim Graboys confirmed Tuesday that Hathcock died from injuries he sustained in November after he was involved in an on-duty vehicle crash near Taylor and Vaughn Roads. The department released a statement expressing grief over Hathcock’s loss but also celebrating his life and many years of dedicated service. “Corporal Hathcock wore the badge with courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to duty. Throughout his career, he left an incredible legacy within this department, from the generations of officers he trained and mentored, to the countless citizens he protected and served. The impact of his sacrifice for this city will continue to be felt for years to come. He helped shape the culture of professionalism and integrity that defines our agency. Beyond the uniform, David was a devoted husband to his wife, Katie Hathcock, and a proud father to his two daughters. His love for his family was evident to everyone who knew him. He was loved dearly by his fellow officers, and we will miss him more than words can express." MPD also asked friends and community members to keep Hathcock’s family in their thoughts and prayers.
