A few days before City Creek Canyon was set to close on weekdays for a three-year overhaul of the water treatment plant, Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall announced that the canyon's popular hiking trails would remain partially open.
Salt Lake City’s original plan was to close the canyon on weekdays for three years while the water treatment plant was under construction.
