— Some of the most valuable real estate in all of medicine are the six walls of a cigarette package. Their high visibility has made them crucial tools for tobacco companies to promote their brands and normalize smoking, across all age groups.

In an infamous 1991 study, more than 90% of 6 year olds in the USA knew Old Joe the Camel, almost the same as the proportion that recognized Mickey Mouse. Tobacco kills up to half of its users, with more than 8 million people dying annually, so governments worldwide have long sought to claim this real estate with warning labels on the risks of smoking.
