The federal lawsuit was filed on behalf of Mendham Methodist Church and Zion Lutheran Church in Long Valley by the religious liberty clinic at the law school at Pepperdine University. “They’re really just looking for equal treatment,” said Eric Rassbach, the director of the California-based religious liberty clinic. “They’re not even looking for a court to rule that they should get the grants, so much as just that they have the ability to seek grants.”
