Placer County officials are warning people of the county’s “deadly river conditions” after a man was swept away in the American River in Auburn, near Tahoe, on Saturday night.

Placer County officials are warning people of the county’s “deadly river conditions” after a man was swept away in the American River in Auburn, nearAround 7:45 p.m. the Placer County Sheriff’s Office received a call from someone reporting that his friend was swept away in the river,The man had reportedly jumped in the river, Angela Musallam, a spokesperson for the office, told SFGATE.

Following the 911 call, officers from the sheriff’s office, state parks and Cal Fire launched a search mission to locate the man, the sheriff’s office said. The California Highway Patrol also deployed a helicopter during the rescue mission, PCSO said. The search team transitioned to a “continuous but limited search” on Sunday at midnight after officials determined that the ground conditions were too dangerous, the sheriff’s office said.
