Single sisters have been allowed to serve so long as they do not have dependent children living at home, and the Church add single men to that Friday. Church officials said men serving singly will not be in a companionship and will be eligible for assignments in mission officers, family history and other roles. If they have medical or legal experience, that may be used as well.Along with now allowing single men over 40 with no dependents at home to serve missions, the roles of single sisters have been expanded to include serving in visitors' centers, historic sites and employment centers.
"Full-time senior missionaries typically serve 40 or more hours per week and live away from home," Church officials said.
