The mother of Jesus Christ goes on the run in 'Mary' first-look photos
Chosen to bring the Messiah into the world, Mary is shunned following a miraculous conception and forced into hiding when the relentless King Herrod ignites a murderous pursuit for her newborn baby. Bound by fate and driven by courage, Mary and Joseph go on the run to save Jesus’ life at all costs.
In the film, you will see what an incredible young man Joseph was, thrust into this extraordinary journey, yet able to handle the crushing societal pressure to abandon and condemn his fiancée to death by stoning, as the law demanded. He is a romantic rebel, falling in love with Mary and ready to fight to the death to protect her and their son. Despite doubts about why he was chosen, he rises to the challenge — becoming a modern hero and a powerful role model for young men.
Of course, you feel a bit nervous directing someone like Sir Anthony, who has immense talent and a larger-than-life presence. You don’t want to let him down — you want to create an environment where he can shine and feel comfortable taking the creative risks he enjoys on camera. We rehearsed together and even rewrote parts of the script, which allowed us to form a bond before he arrived on set.The film is described as a coming-of-age tale, and there aren’t many stories about women from this era.
