Service began two years ago for seniors only. It is now available to riders under 55 years old for $2 per trip.

Chula Vista resident Joanie Corey gets a first-hand look at the city’s free, on-demand shuttle services for seniors on June, 13, 2022. Service, available only in the northwest region of the city, will remain free for older adults and people with disabilities.

The on-demand shuttle program is administered by the city and operated by Circuit Transit Inc., which runs similar free rideshare programs across San Diego County. Grant funding is expected to cover the program through 2025. The city plans to use any revenue generated from fares and advertising to fund operations in year four. According to the current model, the city said it costs approximately $670,000 per year to run the shuttle service.

The program has been a popular one with growing demand, according to monthly reports the city publishes on its website.
