On Thursday afternoon, the jury returned a guilty verdict against Christopher Preciado on capital murder charges, holding him responsible for the deaths of Matthew Guerra, Savanah Soto, and her unborn child.
SAN ANTONIO - A man who was just convicted of murdering a pregnant woman, her boyfriend, and their unborn child, has requested a new trial. Christopher Preciado, who was convicted on Thursday, March 26, on capital murder charges for the deaths of Matthew Guerra, Savanah Soto, and her unborn son Fabian, has filed a motion for appeal, his lawyers confirmed Monday. According to Monica E. Guerrero, who helped represent Preciado in the trial, a notice to appeal was filed with the courts on Monday.The trial, which has seen passionate responses from the families of Savanah Soto and Matthew Guerra, has not brought an end to the pursuit of justice, according to the families. A day after the man who shot and killed them was convicted of capital murder, they now want his father to be found guilty as well. Christopher Preciado will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the deaths of Savanah Soto, Matthew Guerra and their unborn son, Fabian. While their families say they're relieved for that bit of justice, they now want the same result for his father, Ramon Preciado.In the trial, Prosecutors say the 19-year-old shot and killed Matthew Guerra, Savanah Soto, and her unborn child during an apparent drug deal. This was back in December of 2023, around Christmas time. Their bodies were found the next day in Guerra’s silver Kia Optima, abandoned in an apartment lot on Danny Kaye Drive. Surveillance released by police showed an individual exiting a gray Chevy Silverado and speaking with the driver of Guerra’s car before wiping the car door. Police later identified the people in the video, leading to the Jan. 3, 2024, arrests of Christopher and his father, Ramon Preciado.
