Nineteen weeks into her pregnancy, Chloe was told her baby would not survive longer than a month. She says WA's proposed new abortion laws would have made a painful journey easier.

WA abortion laws are set for their biggest overhaul in 25 yearsChloe Seals says they would have made her termination easier to manage

For Ms Seals and her partner, the full extent of Ruby's condition was only known at 19 weeks, leaving only a matter of days for a decision to be made. "I knew I wanted to have those few weeks to spend time with her [Ruby] and really cherish my pregnancy for what it was, so it wasn't something I was ready to do at 19 weeks when we knew that was the only option.", becoming the first state to allow the procedure.

"What the [proposed] law will do will provide more time for women and their families to get a second opinion, to get other advice, and to make the best decision for them in a private and dignified way, where currently that is not the case," she told ABC Radio Perth.
