A child confessed to the murder of a man in a Nixon, Texas, RV park that happened over two years ago.
On January 18, 2022, the owner of Lazy J RV Park received a call from Holmes Foods, a local retailer, because one of their employees had not reported for work in two days. The owner knocked on the RV and upon entering, found Brandon O'Quinn Rasberry, 32, dead.
On Friday, April 12, 2024, The Gonzales County Sheriff's Office received a call from the Nixon Smiley Independent School District Principal, who had reported a 10-year-old male student had threatened to assault and kill another student on the school bus. The school district had conducted a threat assessment on the student and as a result, reached out to the Sheriff's Office.
The child was transported to a child advocacy center where a forensic interview was conducted. During the interview, the child described in detail that two years ago he shot and killed a man in a trailer in Nixon, Texas The child stated he grabbed the pistol from the glove box of his grandfather's truck and entered Rasberry's RV. Rasberry was asleep when the child shot him, striking him once in the head.Investigators found the firearm at a pawn shop in Seguin, Texas, which had been pawned by the grandfather. The gun matched the shell casings from the scene.
