Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued for parts of Cook and Will counties and a large chunk of northwest Indiana as storms roll in off Lake Michigan.
Lake and Porter counties were issued warnings by the National Weather Service until 8:45 a.m. LaPorte County has a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect until 8:15 a.m.The southern portion of Cook County was also placed under a warning until 8:30 a.m., including Orland Park, New Lenox and Homer Glen. Eastern Will County was placed under a warning until 8:30 a.m. as well.Wind gusts of up to 60 mph and pea-sized hail are possible, according to the NWS.Another hot and humid day is on tap.
Highs will likely breach 90 degrees before a sharp cool down ensues in the far northern burbs and near the lake during the late-afternoon hours. By evening, our chance for showers and storms goes up, but even then it’s not a sure thing. Lows will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s under mostly cloudy skies. There could be a lingering shower or storm around tomorrow and it won’t be as warm. Highs will be in the upper 70s.
