Chicago will have a cold and blustery start to the day, but a much milder week is on the way with several days of 40 degrees or above.Wind chills in many areas are deep into the single digits. A Wind Advisory will be in effect for much of the Chicago area from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is where gusts will frequently exceed 40 mph, perhaps a slight bias for those stronger winds closer to the Wisconsin line.At least it will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 40s.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy with diminishing winds. Lows in the upper 20s. Tomorrow will be just as warm but not quite as windy. Still windy, just not as windy. The mild pattern continues into the weekend with a realistic run at 50+ degrees on Thursday. The next storm system to threaten Chicagoland is the same one bringing rain and snow to California. Right now, it appears rain could arrive on Friday. As it stands now, this is the 3rd-driest January on record.
