Declan Doyle, the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator, has withdrawn from the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator search, remaining with the Bears. Several other candidates have also either withdrawn or accepted other positions, leaving the Eagles' search potentially less appealing. The Eagles have reportedly interviewed numerous candidates, including Jerrod Johnson, Frank Smith, Matt Nagy, Mike Kafka, Josh Grizzard, Jim Bob Cooter, and Brian Daboll.

The 32-year-old is highly respected for his offensive innovation. Russini did not indicate whether the Eagles made either coach a formal job offer, but it is noteworthy that several candidates have withdrawn from the race or accepted other jobs. Perhaps the Eagles will still land a quality offensive coordinator, but the job no longer appears as attractive as it once did. The Eagles have reportedly spoken with or shown interest in 12 candidates so far, with roughly half still remaining in the mix. On Monday, Russini reported the team met with Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson and former Dolphins OC Frank Smith, adding them to the list of top options. Outside of Smith and Johnson, former Chiefs OC Matt Nagy, former Giants OC Mike Kafka, former Buccaneers OC Josh Grizzard and current Colts OC Jim Bob Cooter remain in the mix. ESPN and NFL Network have both recently reported that former Giants head coach Brian Daboll is not completely out of the running, although he is expected to take the Titans’ offensive coordinator job if he doesn’t land a head coaching position. Russini reported earlier this month that former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel and Daboll were the Eagles’ top two candidates. McDaniel has since accepted the Chargers’ OC job. The Eagles also spoke with Dolphins passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik, but Miami promoted him to offensive coordinator. ESPN reported they had interest in Arthur Smith, but he has since taken the Ohio State OC job. Former Falcons OC Zac Robinson interviewed with the Eagles, but he ultimately accepted the same position with the Buccaneers. The Eagles have been searching for an offensive coordinator for the past two weeks, and the process is still ongoing.
