As Texans wait to see if Tropical Storm Beryl will make landfall on the Texas Coast, local agencies here in Central Texas are preparing to assist in the event of a disaster.
He says Travis County Emergency Services District 2 will be sending a crew south in the event that Beryl makes landfall, in response to a request from the Texas Interstate Mutual Aid System. He says they're sending a fully equipped fire engine, but they're still waiting to see what exactly the mission will be.
"We'll be sending volunteers in waves to wherever is impacted," Community Volunteer Leader Julian Garza said. "Of course, obviously, it's kind of right now, it's just kind of organizing, preparing, and waiting to see how the days go on.""Also just ensuring that we are organizing shelters in areas around the city, just to ensure that for those, obviously, as I mentioned, that are impacted it, that they are getting taken care of," Garza said.
