A coffee business rooted in culture and tradition is facing a critical moment.

launched their company to bring the flavors of Afro-Colombian coffee to Central Ohio. Now, they say they’re fighting to keep that mission—and their business—going. For the De Arco family, coffee is more than just a morning pick-me-up.

It’s a connection to their heritage, their craft, and their community. Every bag of coffee they sell carries that purpose. Cafe Graciela is named after their grandmother, and the business is"Our logo means in order to go forward, you have to know where you come from," said Nora De Arco. That story begins on a farm in Colombia, where their mother grows the coffee beans. From there, the process stays entirely within the family — from harvesting to packaging to selling."There's no outsourcing of the product. It's our own coffee that we grow organically from Colombia and bring here to Columbus," said Andres De Arco. The business grew steadily, building a following at local farmers' markets where many customers were trying Afro-Colombian coffee for the first time. But beyond the product, the mission runs deeper. Proceeds from their sales help fund scholarships and programs in their hometown in Colombia.Issues at the family farm led to a smaller coffee yield, cutting into their inventory and resulting in roughly a $50,000 loss. "Selling out looks great from the outside, but as a company, you don't really want to sell out because you're losing money," Andres explained. Now, the family is taking things one week at a time — relying on farmers market sales and a community fundraiser to stay afloat.BE THE FIRST TO COMMENTColumbus police responded to a shooting on Lockbourne Road early Wednesday morning.Few details were immediately available, but ABC6 confirmed the shooting t'If you're gonna do it, I'm gonna do it, too.'The Columbus city attorney is requesting the court to shut down a bar in the Linden area to protect public safety after a shooting there left two people injuredA jury declined to indict a father who allegedly fatally shot his daughter in the chest following an argument about President Donald Trump.Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Director Annette Chambers-Smith is resigning at the end of the month to join Gov.
