A new CenterPoint map shows which neighborhoods should have power, but does not give specific days to expect the lights to come back.
HOUSTON — CenterPoint Energy posted an update on power restoration Thursday night, saying they expect 80% of impacted customers to be restored by the end of Sunday.
The company also promised to have estimated restoration dates for 70% of customers who are currently without power by Thursday night. By Friday, they said they should be able to provide restoration dates for all impacted customers. We'll keep an eye on that and post any updates.that they say shows restoration progress. Just note -- when we first posted the map, we heard from people in email and social media who said the map wasn't accurate.
POWER UPDATE: As of 9 p.m. there were just over 908,000 customers without power. That’s down from nearly 2.3 million at the height ofCenterPoint said workers have started rebuilding the electric system in areas hit hard by Beryl in Brazoria County, Fort Bend County and up I-45 to The Woodlands. They said in areas with major damage, customers could be without power longer as crews put in new distribution poles and conductors.
