An 80-year-old woman found dead in her Perth Amboy home on Sunday was the victim of a homicide, officials said.
Awilda Verrette was found by a relative in her residence on State Street at about 1:15 p.m., the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said. Authorities said her death was not a random act of violence and that there is not threat to the public.
