The Masters will begin on Thursday, April 9, with CBS preparing to cover the event and navigate the waters that Woods’ incident has created.

CBS Sports execs will not speculate whether Tiger Woods will compete in the Masters next week, and were vague on how they’ll handle, if at all, his recent DUI arrest following a car crash Friday near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida.

The Masters will begin on Thursday, April 9, with CBS preparing to cover the event for the 71st consecutive year as the broadcaster attempts to navigate the waters During a Monday press call with Jim Nantz, Trevor Immelman, Dottie Pepper and Sellers Shy, CBS Sports president David Berson stepped in to answer a question about the appropriate way to cover Woods during the Masters. That’s the most important thing coming out of the news from this past week, and I definitely want to lead there. “As for Tiger playing or not playing or being in Augusta, not being in Augusta, we don’t have information and it’s not fair to anyone for us to speak about it or to speculate. We just won’t do that. He and his team are going to have to be the ones who speak about it. It’s only fair if that’s the case. So we hope you’ll respect and appreciate that, but we just really don’t want to speculate on something.”There had been some thought that Woods could take part in this year’s Master’s tournament prior to the events of Friday, which saw Woods become involved in his fourth vehicular incident dating back to 2009 and resulted in his second DUI arrest. Woods had been driving near his home and tried to cut in front of a truck, but clipped the back of the truck and flipped his Land Rover onto its side. “Listen, Tiger’s a story, obviously, wherever he is, but our job during the tournament itself will be to cover the tournament,” Berson said. “Tiger obviously has a tremendous legacy at Augusta National with all his Masters victories and his voice in the sport. So of course, we’ll touch on things as necessary as news dictates, but for coverage of the event itself, we’re going to cover the event.”Woods appeared in his first competitive golf match last week when he played in the TGL final for Jupiter Links Golf Club, which led to speculation that he could participate in the Masters.Tiger Woods of the Jupiter Links Golf Club plays his shot from the second tee the TGL finals golf tournament.Stream It Or Skip It: 'Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole' On Netflix, Where A Troubled Detective Tracks Down A Serial Killer Who Is Terrorizing Oslo
