U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized a substantial amount of methamphetamine and heroin concealed within a truck transporting cucumbers and jalapeños at the Pharr International Bridge. The seizure highlights the ongoing efforts of CBP to secure the border from the flow of narcotics.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Pharr International Bridge intercepted a truck carrying a shipment of cucumbers and jalapeños that concealed over $19 million worth of methamphetamine and $144,000 worth of heroin. The incident occurred on February 4th when CBP agents assigned to the cargo area selected the truck for inspection.

During the inspection, agents discovered 26 packages of heroin weighing more than seven pounds and 8,206 packages of methamphetamine with a total weight of over 2,215 pounds hidden within the cargo. The CBP seized both the drugs and the vehicle. Special agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) have initiated a criminal investigation into the matter
