Brandon Thomas-Asante scored his first Coventry City goal as the Sky Blues progressed to the third round of the Carabao Cup after knocking out Oxford United.

It was Coventry's second victory over the U's this season after handing Des Buckingham’s side their first defeat of the Championship campaign 12 days before. Thomas-Asante came close to doubling the lead in the 75th minute with a header that forced an impressive save from Ingram, who followed it up with an strong palm to deny Ben Sheaf from range minutes later.
