Kevin Colwell, the 53-year-old founder and CEO of the prominent Capital District law firm Colwell Law Group , tragically died in a skiing accident at Gore Mountain on Saturday. Police and the firm confirmed the incident on Sunday. Colwell was found severely injured near the Sagamore Trail around 11 a.m. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by ski patrol members and bystanders, he succumbed to his injuries.
Jennifer Stevens, chief operating officer at Colwell Law Group, expressed the profound grief felt by the entire firm. She described Colwell as more than just a business leader, but as the founder of a close-knit family, whose absence would be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working with him. Colwell Law Group has been serving clients in the Capital District, Western New York, and Central New York for almost two decades. In response to the accident, Gore Mountain officials temporarily closed the Burnt Ridge section of the resort on Saturday, but it reopened on Sunday.
