Cancer causing ‘forever chemicals’: Report shines light on household items which may contain PFAS

They are called “forever chemicals,” because they can linger in water and air for thousands of air. And they are, particularly, bad for humans once inside the body. PFAs, as they are known, have been linked to cancer, liver damage and other healthy issues.

And, even if you haven’t heard of them, it’s likely you have already been exposed to them, because, according to some reports, most of us are exposed to PFAs through contaminated food or beverages and they “can be found in the bloodstream of 99% of Americans.”

But, while you likely already have them in you as you read, you certainly don’t want to add more to the mix.provided a nice checklist of things in your home, right now, which may contain PFAS. Among the items the report said to be aware of are “grease-resistant paper, wrappers and containers for food and bakery goods, microwave popcorn bags, pizza boxes and candy wrappers, contaminated fish, nonstick cookware, stain resistant coatings used on carpets, upholstery and other fabrics, water and stain repellant apparel and waterproof outdoor gear, cleaning products, personal care products such as shampoo and dental floss and cosmetics such as nail polish and eye makeup, paints, varnishes...

So, there’s a lot to be aware of, and a lot in your house, likely, at the moment that you may want to check out and rethink having around if you want to help keep the “forever chemicals” out of you and your family members’ bodies.
